Around Substack…
How is everyone?? I delayed sending out this week’s newsletter because of Labor Day. I hope those of you who observed the holiday had a relaxing long weekend!
It’s a bit of an unpleasant subject, but layoffs are by now a fact of life if you work in media and publishing, and a big part of why many people are propelled into freelance/portfolio careers. Which is why this week I want to highlight Laid Off, an amazing new substack from Melanie Ehrenkranz. Melanie does personal interviews with people from a range of industries who have been laid off, and is also fostering an incredibly supportive community in the substack chat. Highly recommended for anyone who is navigating the ups and downs of post-layoff life.
